Ho Chi Minh City has become Jet Airways’ 22nd international destination with new routes connecting Mumbai and New Delhi to Vietnam that launched November 5, announced Naresh Goyal, chairman of Jet, at a ceremony to celebrate held over the weekend in Vietnam’s southern hub.
The new routes are a realisation of an agreement signed between Vietnam Airlines and Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, in early September 2014.
As per the agreement, the two carriers will join together to allow passengers travel from either Indian city to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi via the international gateways of Bangkok and Singapore.

India is now a major importer of Vietnamese goods. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnamese exports to India have grown steadily at an annual average of 46 per cent, which was a major factor in the increase of air traffic between the two nations.
Vietnam Airlines has also reported a rising number of Vietnamese tourists travelling to Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India. The opening of the new routes contributes to strengthening India’s Look East policy.
